Review: Dearly Beloved I Thee Red

Dearly Beloved I Thee Red
Not to be confused with the incredibly similar sounding Dearly Beloved Forever Red, the Dearly Beloved I Thee Red is yet another red blend from this fine producer with some incredibly stellar label art. As with their other offerings, they probably sell more bottles due to the cool skull on the label than anything about the wine itself. We picked up this bottle because we remembered the Forever Red and thought that it was only $8 at Trader Joe’s, so why not?

The Dearly Beloved I Thee Red is a blend of Merlot, Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Syrah, and Cabernet Franc, all from the Central Coast of California. This blend leads to a very rich red wine that attempts to balance the fine line between fruity and spicy. I do think that the raspberry and cherry beat out the pepper, but you can taste it trying to creep in.

I found the Dearly Beloved I Thee Red to be better than the Dearly Beloved Forever Red. While this is not an award winning wine, it is great for company with a crowd pleasing taste and a bottle that is definitely a point of conversation.
