The bottle of Pedigris Columbia Valley Pinot Gris I purchased from Trader Joe’s was a real surprise. Trader Joe’s does not have the best track record with me for Pinot Gris. It has been one of the few types of wine where they have consistently disappointed me. Given that this bottle was only $6, I had low expectations that it would break me out of my Trader Joe’s Pinot Gris hating rut. Fortunately for us all, I was wrong!
Pedigris Columbia Valley Pinot Gris is made form 100% Pinot Gris grapes grown in the Columbia Valley. It is very light, which is actually a good thing for a cheap Pinot Gris. There is nothing worse than heavy and bad in a white wine. The Pedigris Columbia Valley Pinot Gris had a nice, crisp apple flavor, and while simple, it was enjoyable.
I do not think this will be a wine that will enter my regular rotation, but I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with the Pedigris Columbia Valley Pinot Gris from Trader Joe’s. At only $6, it is one of the better value Pinot Gris available at that fine establishment.
