The County Fair Wingman Shiraz Viognier is a 90% Shiraz and 10% Viognier blend that I grabbed the other day from Trader Joe’s for only $7. I had never previously has a Shiraz Viognier blend, so when I saw it on the display, it seemed like a perfect opportunity to try something new. I knew what to expect from a Shiraz, and given that this wine is 90% Shiraz, I had a feeling that it would be similar. However, the Viognier can be a powerful grape, so I was curious how it would impact the total package.
At first sip, The County Fair Wingman Shiraz Viognier tasted rich and fruity, with a strain of berry powering through. The acidity is pretty prevalent, lending the wine a lot of tartness to balance out the berry flavors.
I am not sure this is a true winner, but The County Fair Wingman Shiraz Viognier was not too bad. Only $7, it is not a very expensive wine which makes me more forgiving. However, given the wide variety of $7 options at Trader Joe’s, it might be better to skip this one and try something else.
I liked your review of The Wingman.
I would have wrote the same review. I
Wanted to try a Shiraz/ Viogner blend
since we produce a good quantity of Shiraz
And Viogner in TX. It was an OK wine for
$7.00.
