Last night, we ended up drinking our way through a bottle of Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio. How did we end up there? We decided to put our trust in Yellow Tail and let them determine what we would be drinking based on their recommended pairings. It was pasta primavera for dinner, and with that up, Yellow Tail recommends their Pinot Grigio. With direction in hand, we ran down to the 7-11 on the corner, plopped down our $6 and walked out with that bottle of Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio.
The pasta primavera turned out quite well. The Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio not so much. While the Pinot Grigio was light and dry, it was overpowered with the flavor of green apple. This led to an incredibly unbalanced wine that did not bring the pairing perfection we had been promised.
This wine is not recommended. The Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio, despite the cheap price and convenience of being able to find it practically everywhere, is simply not worth it. You can, and you should, do better.
