Review: Apothic Red Wine

Apothic Red Wine

Apothic Red Wine is perhaps the most requested red wine for us to review over the past few months, so we decided to get around to it. What is it that makes y’all so interested in this wine? My guess is a combination of things. It is marketed quite well, with a very attractive label and in store displays. It is pretty affordable, going for only $8 where I picked it up. Finally, this is a wine that you can find at almost every grocery store in the country, so I imagine that quite a few of you run into it every weekend when shopping and ask yourself if it is worth grabbing.

The Apothic Red Wine is a blend of Zinfandel, Merlot, and Syrah. They are really trying to get the best from each grape. At first, I noticed a surprising amount of vanilla and spice in this wine. It is gently tempered by the presence of quite a bit of berry flavors, more dark berry than others. It was a very smooth wine, though it somewhat lacked that certain je ne sais quoi that elevate good wines to greatness.

Feel free to pick up a bottle of Apothic Red Wine. I can easily recommend it. It is a solid offering for a reasonable price. While not life changing, it is a good everyday wine.
