Review: Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a stellar albeit pricey offering from Kendall-Jackson’s Vintner’s Reserve line of lower end (by KJ standards), more approachable wines. In generally, the wines of the Vintner’s Reserve line retail for between $12 and $19 and are usually available in most supermarkets and wine stores. This Cabernet Sauvignon is no exception, coming in at the high end of that price range.

The Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is an incredibly robust wine that is full-bodied and imbued throughout with lush fruit flavors. The most noticeable flavor is that of dark berries, and those are paired with lesser notes of vanilla and wood that come from KJ’s production approach of using both French and American oak.

Anytime I drink a bottle of wine that cost me almost $20, I naturally have much higher expectations of the drinking experience. However, as much as it surprises me, the Kendall-Jackson Vintner’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon exceeded them anyway. This is not an every day bottle, but if you want a safe, enjoyable option to serve to your in-laws, this is a solid choice.
