Review: Zonin Rose

Zonin Rose

Zonin Rose is the slightly more colorful sparkling wine option from Casa Vinicola Zonin. We’ve always known them as the people behind one of our favorite bottles of bubbly, Zonin Prosecco, but we recently learned that they do much more. Casa Vinicola Zonin has been making wines in Italy for more than 200 years where they are one of the largest privately held Italian wine makers with almost 4,500 acres of vineyards. They produce a number of different wines, but the ones that excite me the most are their sparklers.

We popped open a bottle of Zonin Rose to celebrate New Year’s Eve. I figured that everyone was in the mood for bubbly and would appreciate a change from champagne. Also, selfishly, it was a great opportunity for an impromptu tasting panel. It is one thing for me to tell you if I like a wine or not, but if five different people agree, that says a lot more.

The Zonin Rose immediately opened up with a strong, fruity fragrance and a bounty of nice, small bubbles. It went down every so gently with red fruit flavors and just a bit of something else that I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Whatever it was complimented the fruit well and led to a balanced experience.

Much like Zonin Prosecco, Zonin Rose is a definite winner. Every single person that tasted it liked it. This is a bottle of sparkling wine that you can find for around $10, yet it is good enough to serve at any occasion. I recommend you give it a try.
